WHEN six-year-old Jacob Reddy ‘googled’ his name — he never expected it would give him his first taste of fame.
For the internet search of his name has landed him a starring role in a music video, in which he features alongside 16-year-old singer-songwriter — Jacob Reddy.
Out of sheer curiosity the Egerton Primary School pupil decided to Google his name to see if any of his lockdown challenge videos had made it to YouTube.
The youngster, along with dad, Chris Reddy, completed a series of 111 fun challenges during lockdown, the videos of which went viral, and won the two some local fans.
Young Jacob told The Bolton News: “When I typed my name in there was another boy called Jacob Reddy, that was very cool.
“I was very excited to know he just lived 15 minutes up the road.”
And inspired by Jacob’s guitar playing skills, the youngster, with his dad, sent the sent the teenager a message saying ‘hi’ and how he wanted to learn to play— and older Jacob got back in touch.
The six-year-old said: “It was very cool because I didn’t know if he would respond.”
The Blackburn musician, who is about to release his third single, stayed in contact over lockdown, inspiring his namesake to pick up the guitar sending him music videos.
And then out of the blue, teenage Jacob contacted Chris to see if his son would like to star in the video.
Young Jacob is featured in a number of scenes, including playing the guitar with the musician.
Young Jacob said “He said that one day maybe I could go on stage with him - two Jacob Reddy’s on the stage.
“ It is very cool to have a new friend called Jacob.
“It was really fun to be in the video.”
Teenage Jacob was inspired to pick up the guitar in a similar way at six-years-old after watching the band Indie Killers at a family wedding. The band took time out to talk to him and when they were booked to play a his dad’s 40th birthday, Jacob had a chance to play the guitar on stage with them!
The student said: “Jacob was a lot of fun in the video and it was nice to meet him because I had been chatting with his dad on Twitter.
“The video features people of different ages and generations — and so invited Jacob to be in it because he is young, and we have two Jacobs in the video.
The single is called ‘Everything’s Alright” and is due for release on June 18, with the video now in the editing stage.
The single is the musician’s third song to be released — and Jacob can often be heard busking in and around Lancashire.
