BOLTON's Mountain Rescue Team managed to save two sheep who were stuck in a gully today.
The farmyard animals had become stuck in the gully after being spooked by nearby dogs.
The team were contacted by a local farmer, who had noticed his sheep were stuck.
A rescue team spokesman said that "with some gentle encouragement, we were able to direct the sheep to safety."
The team primarily work on the West Pennine Moors, and regularly aid police forces in searches.
The volunteer search and rescue service posted about their work on social media.
The post added that the sheep "were lucky" - as two other sheep had been attacked by dogs the previous day.
One of the sheep was killed in the incident, prompting the rescue team to add a warning to dog owners.
They said: "We know most of you will be responsible dog owners but just a reminder to keep control of your dogs when you're near livestock."
