MORE residents will be able to receive their first Covid-19 job as the Bolton's Vaccination Bus returns to New Bury UCAN Centre in Farnworth on Thursday.

Anyone who fits the current criteria and is registered with a Bolton GP can receive their first vaccination on board the bus.

Health Improvement Practitioners will carry out health checks and provide health tips on the day, as well as knocking on doors in the local area to encourage people to get their vaccination.

The bus will be at the George Street site from 10am until pm.

Representatives from The Storehouse Pantry foodbank, which is run by Bolton at Home and Urban Outreach, will be on hand to welcome people for their first dose of the Covid-19 vaccination at the George Street site.

On Friday the bus will make a stop at Makkah Mosque in Grecian Crescent, Great Lever between 10am and 5pm.

An initial session between 10am and noon will be for women only, then anyone else who meets the criteria can attend between 1pm and 5pm.

The bus is for first doses only and no appointment is needed, but you must be registered with a Bolton GP practice to get the jab on the bus.

Those aged 42 and over are eligible, as well as people in their 30s who are carers have been shielding or have a long term health condition.

Senior Responsible Officer for the Covid-19 Vaccination Programme in Bolton, and Clinical Director of Commissioning at Bolton Clinical Commissioning Group, Dr Helen Wall, said: “It’s great to see the Bolton Vaccination Bus pulling into such a variety of locations. These are areas where people may be struggling to attend an appointment at a regular vaccination centre, and by the response we’ve had so far, this approach is much needed and very welcome.

“I’m also pleased to see some great partnership working as getting everyone vaccinated is a major task that can only benefit from us all working together to get the job done.”

Michael Smith, Chief Officer of Bolton GP Federation, said: “We have received massive amounts of support from local businesses, community and faith groups and other organisations, such as Bolton at Home, to help us find good locations for parking up.

"We want to take the bus out to the places where we know people might be struggling, and where communities can come together to support and promote the bus when it comes along.

“If you’re a member of a community organisation in the Deane, Derby, Daubhill or Great Lever area, and would like the bus to visit your neighbourhood, get in touch and we’ll see what we can do.”
