A HISTORIC pub will reopen tomorrow as an American-style diner.
The former Flying Flute in Bradshawgate has been transformed into a new eaterie by young entrepreneur Amani Parkhetia, from Bolton.
The 20-year-old has spent the last two months revamping a section of the pub into, 27th Street — with nearly all of the art and decorating work done by Amani herself.
Her aim is to bring the style of burger bars typically seen in cities such as Manchester and London to her home town, combining her loves for art and food.
Amani said: “All the interior design has been done myself which I’ve loved spending time on.
“I have worked in hospitality quite a few times before and always really enjoyed it so I decided to do some research into and explore how I could set something up myself.
“I’ve been cooking all my life too and having my own restaurant is something I’ve always wanted to do.”
Amani initially planned to delay the project for a few years and go to university instead. She started two different degrees and dropped out of each as it was not something she was interested in doing.
From then on she started dedicating her time to looking for the right venue and planning the business.
“There was a lot of time to look through the coronavirus lockdown and there wasn’t a lot coming up at first.
“But then we saw this building go up for sale and just thought this was the perfect opportunity.
“It really is a beautiful building to be in.
“We always wanted somewhere that was unique and really stands out both on the inside and outside, with so much history too.
“So many people have come past and spoken to me and told me all about the history and I just hope I can create a new history and create new memories of the building for people, that is the hope.
“I’ve always loved going to these sorts of restaurants myself but you don’t get a lot like this around here, you have to travel into Manchester. I’m really keen to bring this to the area.” Amani has devised the recipes herself with final touches happening to the site now. 27th Street will be opening for takeaway from tomorrow.
