A Bolton woman stepped up to the plate last month to raise money for Cancer Research UK.
Zainab Patel, 46, decided to take part in the charity’s ‘Walk All Over Cancer’ 2021 fundraiser, which challenged participants to walk 10,000 steps every day throughout the month of March.
Zainab, who lost her beloved mother to cancer 10 years ago and has also seen other relatives taken by the disease, successfully completed the challenge with the support of her family.
Her amazing efforts have seen her raise more than £650 for the charity, smashing her original target of £500.
“It has been my biggest achievement this year,” said Zainab. “It’s something I’m so proud of.”
Speaking about completing the challenge, she said: “It was emotional, I was happy.
“My family supported me so much.
“It was emotional doing it as well, I was in tears thinking about all the people who are suffering with cancer.”
