BOLTON School often lands a starring role in popular TV series.
Recently it was featured in the powerful drama It’s A Sin on Channel 4.
Stephen Fry was at the school to film scenes.
The drama had 6.5 million views on All 4 within a month. It tells the story of a group of young friends living in London through the HIV/Aids crisis in the 1980s and its impact on the LGBT community.
Key scenes were also filmed in the iconic Le Mans Crescent.
Another show filmed at Bolton School caught the eye of our American cousins.
The school forms the spectacular backdrop for the BBC’s hit teen mystery drama Get Even.
That was viewed one million times in two weeks, acting as a great showcase for the town.
The school was transformed into the fictional Bannerman Independent School last year for the series.
And viewers across the Atlantic were left wondering whether the awe-inspiring building could actually be a real school.
Such was the excitement surrounding Bolton’s very own Hogwarts, US Cosmopolitan magazine wrote a feature on the school this month.
The article stated: “In the event that you turned on Get Even, took one look at Bannerman Independent School, and we're like, 'Wait, sorry, why didn’t I go to school in a castle?' There’s some good news. Bannerman’s campus fully exists in real life - meaning you can visit those turrets right now - er, when the pandemic is over.”
The writer even made reference to planning trips to Bolton.
Bolton School and other locations in Bolton feature in in many dramas and film including The Stranger, starring Richard Armitage as well as Cold Feet.
Robert Carlyle was in Bolton for the Sky drama Cobra
The money made by Bolton School through filming goes towards the bursary scheme which opens the gates to bright students regardless of their background. It is understood more filming is planned at both the school and in Bolton.
