A NEW £5.7m day centre with a community swimming pool is set to open next year after councillors agreed to increase its funding.
Bolton Council officials say plans to upgrade and relocate the Jubilee Centre have been allocated an additional £700,000 as images of how the new facility could look are revealed to the public for the first time.
Work is set to start in September and move brings the overall investment in the centre to £5.7m.

Construction at the former Firwood School site, off Crompton Way, could be completed as soon as November 2022.
It will replace the existing Jubilee Centre on Tennyson Street, Halliwell, which was built in 1983 and is showing significant signs of age.
The Jubilee Centre is operated by Bolton Cares, the council-owned adult social care company.

The council said users and members of the local community have been involved in the decision-making process from the beginning and were instrumental in deciding where the new centre should be built.
Cllr Cox, said: “The council has already set aside £5m for this project but this additional investment will help provide our residents with the excellent services they deserve.
“The input of both service users and the local community has been vital, and we will continue to listen to them as this project progresses.”

Cllr Andy Morgan, the borough’s adult services cabinet member, added: “The additional funding marks a significant step towards providing a modern and well-equipped facility that will serve the community for years to come.
“I know how much service users value the existing Jubilee Centre, but I am sure they will be as excited as we are to see how this new state-of-the-art centre could look.
“By moving to this new location, we can ensure services will continue at the Jubilee Centre until the new site is ready.”
