Tributes have been paid to Dorothy Yates , who died in Bolton Hospice on February 2 at 81.
Dorothy was a beloved wife to Michael, a devoted mum to Joanna, James and Charles, and a dear mother-in-law to Katy, Victoria and Rob.
She was also the much-loved grandma of Nathan, Lucy, Tom and Toby.
Dorothy was born in Burnley, but moved to Bolton when she married in 1966. A legal secretary, she worked for the firms Cyril Morris and Fielding’s Porter, and would tease her children by writing their Christmas present lists in shorthand.

A wonderful cook, avid reader and skilled knitter, she devoted hours to knitting items for Frances House Children’s Hospice. She loved to travel, and, a great nurturer, she adored spending time with her grandchildren.
Daughter Joanna said: “She was the anchor around which everything revolved.”
