A FARNWORTH firefighter will be undertaking a 55 mile walk to raise money for The Fire Fighters Charity.

Charlie Thompson will walk from Cheadle Fire Station to Harworth Community Fire Station, based in Nottinghamshire in June.

The challenge is in memory of 21-year-old Henry Jennings from Australia who died on New Year's Day in a road traffic collision in Queensland.

The Brigade2Brigade Challenge will see Charlie walking 55 miles, in full fire kit and breathing apparatus equipment

He said: “I’m really looking forward to taking on the challenge and raising important funds for The Fire Fighters Charity who support colleagues in GMFRS and other fire and rescue services across the UK along with family members who may require support.

“This challenge is in loving memory of a very close family friend, Henry Jennings who sadly passed away on New Year’s Day. He was a very giving young man and would have walked beside me if he could.”

The Fire Fighters Charity supports serving and retired firefighters.
