The number of cases and coronavirus infection rate varies wildly across the borough, according to the latest statistics.
Some areas of Bolton saw a significant amount of new coronavirus cases in the seven days to January 28 causing their rolling infection rate to jump above the national average.
However, other sections of Bolton have seen their number of cases drop compared to the week before, according to data from Public Health England.
OVERALL PICTURE
Overall, Bolton has seen its infection rate and number of cases drop, in line with the rest of Greater Manchester.
Five areas of Bolton are recording an infection rate well above the current national average, and well above Bolton's overall infection rate.
HORWICH NORTH
Horwich North, comprising of the area around Lee Lane, is recording an infection rate of well over double the national average of cases per 100,000.
In the seven days to January 28 Horwich North recorded 45 new positive cases of coronavirus, 20 more than the previous seven days.
This equals an infection rate of 624.6 per 100,000 — well above the national average of 280 per 100,000.
GILNOW
Gilnow and Victory recorded 53 new cases in the days leading to January 28, 18 more than the week before.
This gave the area a coronavirus infection rate of 553 per 100,000, just under double what the national average is for case rates.
HORWICH EAST
Horwich East, Westhoughton West, and Daubhill with Fernhill Gate are the other areas of the town that are recording an infection rate of above 400 per 100,000 residents.
Horwich East with Daubhill and Fernhill Gate both saw their weekly number of new cases increase by five and three respectively.
DAUBHILL
This means Horwich East was recording an infection rate of 441.5 with Daubhill and Fernhill Gate recording a rate of 405.9 per 100,000 residents as of January 28.
WESTHOUGHTON WEST
Westhoughton West recorded an infection rate of 485.7 per 100,00 residents despite seeing its number of new cases drop up to January 28.
The area recorded 39 new cases, three less than the previous week, but still recorded a significant infection rate.
EGERTON
Nearly all other areas of the town saw a decrease in new weekly coronavirus cases, pushing Bolton's overall rate down significantly, and below the national average.
Dunscar and Egerton, Burnden and Great Lever, and Eagley and Sharples all saw their number of cases increase.
Dunscar and Egerton saw four more cases in the seven days to January 28, however, its infection rate remains relatively low at 186.4 per 100,000 residents.
BURNDEN, GREAT LEVER, SHARPLES
Burnden and Great Lever as well as Eagley and Sharples both saw their number of cases increase by one and recorded an infection rate above Bolton's overall figure of 338.3 and 317.4 respectively.
HARWOOD, BROMLEY CROSS, BRADSHAW
Harwood (110.7), Bromley Cross with Bradshaw (110.3), and Heaton with Deane (112.4) are recording the lowest infection rates in the borough with other areas rate's also dropping significantly.
FARNWORTH
Farnworth North recorded 23 fewer cases in the seven days to January 28 giving it a rate of 209.7 with Farnworth South also seeing 20 fewer cases at an infection rate of 132.2 per 100,000 residents.
LEVER EDGE
Lever Edge also saw a significant drop in cases, with 23 fewer cases according to the latest data giving it a rate of 158.9 per 100,000.
