It has remained a mystery for more than two weeks now, but exactly how an abandoned car came to be wedged in a back alley is no closer to being resolved.
Councillors in Darwen have been scratching their heads since mid-January, after this untaxed car, with no MOT appeared at the rear of Olive Lane, seemingly wedged between two opposing walls.
Darwen Town Councillor, Cllr Roy Davies said bin wagons would be unable to access the alleyways due to the obstruction, which in turn could result in a build up of waste and subsequent fly-tipping.
Cllr Davies contacted both the neighbourhood policing team and the council to try and get the vehicle removed, but two weeks on and the car remains in situ.
He said: "The pictures I took show what would appear to be an abandoned car at the rear of Olive Lane back street.
"It's been here for a couple of weeks now, and would appear to be wedged in.
"I sent an email to both the Darwen police neighbourhood team regarding the vehicle as it is untaxed and has no MOT, and the council as it may well have an impact on refuge collections in the coming weeks."
A spokesperson for the council's environment team said the vehicle had been reported to them and someone would be down to inspect it this week.
The spokesperson said: "The vehicle has been reported.
"We will get down to inspect it before the end of the week, however if this is causing an obstruction in a rear alley, maybe the highways could be engaged to deal with this sooner."
