ONE of Bolton's most iconic streets will appear on the small screen again tonight, Friday.
Le Mans Crescent features in Channel 4's It’s a Sin, with the first episode starting at 9pm.
But although the five-part drama is set in 1980s London, programme makers once again looked north for some of their locations.
Le Mans Crescent doubles up as a street in London in the five-part drama which follows a group of young friends who move to the capital to start a new life.
Penned by Doctor Who writer Russell T Davies, It’s a Sin is a tale of love and loss set against the backdrop of the AIDS pandemic which devastated the gay community through much of the decade.
Filming took place in Bolton in October 2019 – with production teams bringing retro props including vintage cars to make the set look convincing.
More than 20 people were filmed for the scene in the town centre last year, with protesters coming off a bus and pulling signs out the back of a car.

People were also spotted with white t-shirts reading "AIDS needs aid!"
Signs with “fight AIDS not gays”, “RIP killed by the system” and “Blood on your hands blazenhensher” were all spotted.
It features up-and-coming acting talent including Omari Douglas and Olly Alexander, alongside established stars Stephen Fry and Shaun Dooley.
Leader of Bolton Council, Cllr David Greenhalgh, said: “Bolton really punches above its weight as a filming location. The list of shows which are drawn to our borough to film just keeps on growing.
“It’s easy to see the appeal of Le Mans Crescent, which was built in the 1920s, and is Bolton’s hidden gem.
"It’s a stunning piece of architecture which with a little imagination can be repurposed as somewhere completely different – in this case a street in London in the 1980s!
“I hope people can find time to tune in for the show which looks great. It will be wonderful to see our town once again in the limelight – even if most people watching will think it’s London!”
The area of Bolton around Le Mans Crescent has previously been passed off as London in the hit TV crime show Peaky Blinders.
Filmmakers were back in the town earlier this month to shoot scenes for forthcoming Sky One Drama Wolfe, which is set to be broadcast later this year.
Netflix's The Stranger, White Lines, The English Game and the BBC’s Traces were also filmed in Bolton as well as BBC drama Ridley Road which is also due on air during 2021.
