A man has been arrested and will spend Christmas and New Year behind bars after being recalled to prison, police have said.

A 32-year-old man, who had only recently been released from prison, was recalled to prison on November 25 after failing to follow their release conditions.

Officers from the Bolton Action Team, Offender Management Unit, Tactical Aid Unit and Breightmet Neighbourhood Team have since been trying to locate the man who was actively trying to avoid the police.

After searching for nearly a month officers from the Bolton Action Team and the Offender Management Unit arrested the male this morning at an address in Lenham Gardens, Breightmet, according to GMP Bolton North.

He is set to be sent straight back to prison.

A post on GMP Bolton North's Facebook page detailed this, saying: "A male has been arrested after being recalled to prison.

On Wednesday November 25, Greater Manchester Police received notification that a 32-year-old male, who had recently been released from prison, was being recalled to prison after failing to follow their release conditions.

"Since then, officers from the Bolton Action Team, Offender Management Unit, Tactical Aid Unit and Breightmet Neighbourhood Team have conducted numerous enquiries to try and locate the wanted male, who was actively avoiding police.

"It seemed as though the male would manage to evade arrest before Christmas, however, this morning (Tuesday December 22), officers from the Bolton Action Team and the Offender Management Unit attended an address on Lenham Gardens in Breightmet and located the wanted male.

"The male was arrested and will now be sent straight back to prison, where he will spend his Christmas and New Year."
