The time when youngsters - some over-eager, some very reluctant - take to the stage in an array of costumes often involving tea towels and bed sheets is one of the highlights of the year for parents.

Nativities often feature an array of animals from the traditional sheep and donkey to the more exotic. We all know the basic storyline but on the night something always happens to rewrite the script.

The classic is when the inn-keeper welcomes Mary and Joseph with open arms and gives them his best room for the night or the angel overcome with nerves forgets to give glad tidings of great joy!

Here we head back to 2006 and take a look at some of the youngsters who brought a little Christmas cheer to audiences around Bolton with their efforts.
