‘I WISH I could take the pain away.’ Those are the heartbreaking words of a father whose ‘super brave’ daughter is fighting leukaemia.

Talented young performer Ella-Rose was diagnosed with T Cell Acute lymphoblastic in October after she started to feel lethargic and began losing weight.

Following hospital tests her parents David and Becky were told their daughter had the rare form of blood cancer.

Now, Ella-Rose is undergoing intensive treatment, including blood and platelets transfusions as well as chemotherapy at home and in hospital.

She will be on intensive chemotherapy for eight months.

David, a scaffolder from Breightmet, said: “We were told her condition was critical.

“It is heartbreaking to see your daughter going from looking so well to being so poorly. She is not mobile, the treatment has wiped her out.

“She is being super brave but she is so much pain, I wish I could take the pain away.”

David, aged 36, added: “It is a rare illness, I was told that a doctor would see a child with cancer on average once in their whole career, that is how rare this is.

“I just want to raise awareness of the illness. Ella-Rose started feeling lethargic, had aching bones, losing weight, she is also asthmatic which masked the tumour on her windpipe. We were told to make sure she took her inhaler but we knew something wasn’t right so called 111.”

Now the community including Ella-Rose’s theatre school, Taylor’s Theatre Academy, are rallying around to support the family as they focus on their daughter.

The Bolton News:

Recently Ella-Rose — who has two brothers Jake, 13 and Tyler, aged 16 — visited the theatre school in Ainsworth Road, Tonge Moor, to see her friends and thank them in person for their support.

The academy has released a special Christmas CD to support the family.

Young performers were treated to a special professional recording session and a festive video was filmed thanks to Collectiv Bolton and Ursa Major Media.

The Bolton News:

The money raised from the CD featuring festive songs will go to the family, which is looking to treat their Ella-Rose to a special dream holiday when she is well.

Ella-Rose, who is a pupil at Red Lane Primary School, watched the video from her hospital bed.

“She had a big smile of her face when she watched it, “ said David, “The support we have received from Taylor Theatre Academy, the community and charities has been overwhelming.

“It means so much.”

David has been in touch with the family of Emmie Narayn-Nichol, a Pride of Britain winner.

She was diagnosed with the same condition as Ella-Rose and now her family run Emmie’s Kitchen to support families.

David said: “To see Emmie now shows there is light at the end of tunnel.

“The staff on Ward 84, where Ella-Rose is treated are unbelievable in supporting families.”

And he thanked everyone who takes time out to give blood and those who have signed up to the Anthony Nolan Bone Marrow Register.

David said: “It is so important, someone has donated blood which is now being used to treat my daughter.”

Stacey Taylor, from Taylor’s Theatre Academy, said: “Ella-Rose has been with us for three years and when she came for a surprise visit she brought us presents. It is heartbreaking what Ella-Rose and her family are going through and we just wanted to support them. She is so strong and was talking to girls she performs with.”

The CD album is available to buy from the the theatre’s Facebook page.

Stacey said: “The video was shot against a green screen with children in their bubbles. They really enjoyed doing it and Ella-Rose loved it.”
