A HIGH school in Bolton has won an award for outstanding progress.
Kearsley Academy, part of Northern Education Trust, was shortlisted for the category of ‘Outstanding Progress (Secondary)’ award, by the Education Business Awards 2020 editorial committee.
Only five secondary schools were shortlisted for this achievement nationally, and students and staff were delighted to find out last week that they were the winners of this award.
Kim McKee, principal at Kearsley Academy said: “We were delighted when we found out we had been shortlisted for this national award with four other secondary schools in England.
“The achievements of each of these shortlisted schools is truly commendable.
“To find out last week at the awards ceremony that we had won this category of ‘Outstanding Progress (Secondary)’ for this academic year was a fantastic achievement.
“Our children and staff took part in a celebration event where we viewed the footage of our award ceremony together and took time to reflect and be grateful for this recognition.”
Student outcomes there have risen dramatically over recent years, with qualifications in English and mathematics combined rising by over 23 per cent.
This has placed Kearsley Academy in the top 20 most improved schools nationally two years in a row which is an outstanding achievement. Kearsley Academy is an inclusive school and values the contribution made by students, staff, governors, parents and members of the local community. It can be summed up with the phrase ‘Outcomes Focused, Child Centred'.
