Dear Style Rehab
I'm going to my Christmas party next week and I have a dilemma. All the girls from my office will be wearing killer heels and I can't. They just don't seem to work for me. I refuse to hobble around and like a really good dance. What can I do?
Gemma, Astley Bridge
Well Gemma, many girls have this problem and the solution of course must be flats.
If you're wearing jeans or trousers they are a perfect solution to your crisis. Ballet pumps have never been so hot right now.
What's more they are so cheap compared to their skyscraper sisters. Matalan have a fantastic range starting from £8. Choose from sophisticated black, to hot pink, shiny silver or canary yellow. They have everything you need to keep you boogieing when all the others are limping off the dance floor.
If you're wearing a skirt and have stick thin legs then you can pull it off. If not and your calves are on the chunky side then steer clear. If you want to show off your pins no matter what then I would suggest going black - it's a girl's best friend. Try a black skirt with chunky tights and black pumps - jewel encrusted ones would work well here.
And remember, when you enviously eye those girls in their four-inch pinchers, you'll be still standing in the takeaway queue while they are weeping into their taxis.
