A BOLTON organisation that helps people struggling with addiction will be in Market Place this weekend to mark World Mental Health Day on Saturday.
Mark Murray and Liam McBride pledged to help others after both experiencing battles with addiction and mental health.
They formed Whysup three years ago offering a wide spectrum of services and have since spoken to hundreds of young adults in education, inspiring them and creating recognition awards. They also work with local businesses.
Mark said: “We’re not teachers, counsellors or professional speakers, just people who have lived through the illness of addiction, battled mental health and now practise good wellbeing.”
Liam said: “Over the last few months, Whysup’s support line has been overwhelmed with calls.
"We have seen first-hand the impact of lockdown on mental health and wellbeing.
“So, with this in mind, we wanted to do something this World Mental Health Day in the heart of our home-town.”
They are happy to have a chat, offer advice and showcase the merchandise which mostly funds their services – “along with the help of a few local heroes,” added Liam.
The duo will be in Market Place from 10am to 4pm on Saturday and Sunday.
