A team of nurses from Bolton's NHS foundation trust have been nominated for a prestigious award.

The trust's Admiral Nurse team, led by Kerry Lyons, are finalists in the commitment to carers category of the RCNi nurse awards 2020.

Kerry and her team will find out if they have won at a virtual event on October 5.

Kerry Lyons said: "I work across both primary and secondary care settings, educating staff, increasing awareness and offering support to people living with dementia.

"The pathways are seamless, providing tailored and timely support when it’s needed. That support has increased resilience and helped families avoid hospital admissions."

Marie Forshaw, director of nursing, midwifery at Bolton NHS Foundation Trust added: "The service Kerry has developed and built for people with dementia in Bolton and their carers is something we are incredibly proud of.

"Kerry’s determination to support and guide families and ensure that they have the advice and information they need through her role as a Dementia UK Admiral Nurse has been invaluable for carers in Bolton."
