Donald Trump is in quarantine with the First Lady Melania Trump after they tested positive for coronavirus.
The US President, aged 74, tweeted the news himself.
He wrote: "We will get through this together."
The tweet came after one of his closest aides Hope Hicks tested positive.
She travelled with him on Air Force One to a TV debate in Ohio this week.
The President wrote "Tonight, @FLOTUS and I tested positive for COVID-19. We will begin our quarantine and recovery process immediately. We will get through this TOGETHER!"
Mr Trump's physician Sean Conley said the president and the first lady "are both well at this time, and they plan to remain at home within the White House during their convalescence".
The statement said: "Rest assured I expect the president to continue carrying out his duties without disruption while recovering, and I will keep you updated on any future developments."
