A NEW discount food shop which is taking advantage of manufacturing companies' clearance goods has opened in Bolton, creating 22 jobs.
OOPS! Clearance welcomed customers into the Central Retail Park store for the first time on Wednesday.
The shop offers knockdown prices for hundreds of food items after the parent company, KPFF Ltd, buys clearance goods from hundreds of large manufacturing sites and repackages them at its base in Liverpool.
The products may have ended up in manufacturers' clearance section for a number of reasons, such as over production, packaging errors, or the goods being the wrong shape or colour.
Food that was set to go to waste – but it still safe to eat – ends up on the aisles for customers to purchase.

Owner Noel Davis, who aims to open a number of stores across the north west, believes the store's array of offers will be “very successful” in tempting shoppers to go to the store.
He said: “We have quite a few stores under offer and it just so happens the Bolton store was the first one to be completed.
“It is the right size and footprint and area for what we are looking for.
"It used to be a Poundworld a couple of years ago.
“There is also the right demographic of people here.
“The opening went well, the response from customers has been very good and it has been steady since it opened.
“We have 600 products for sale at the store which includes a mixture of frozen, fresh and dry food.”

Noel, whose business plans to open 12 stores across the region before Christmas, is also happy the shop has provided full-time and part-time jobs for people in the town.
He added: “The labour workforce seems to be plentiful here in Bolton.
"There have been people who have been long-term unemployed.”
“We had a fantastic response to the job adverts we placed.
“The 22 jobs are a good boost for people."
