A 10-YEAR-OLD boy who had two bikes stolen in four months has been given a surprise present by the football club he plays for.
Oscar Bunney, from Sharples, was left devastated when thieves stole his bike in April and its replacement was then taken in August.
Turton FC, the club Oscar plays for at junior level, used funds to pay for a new bike and presented it to him at training last week.
Chairman Peter Gray said: “It was pretty sad to read that Oscar had two bikes stolen. It is nice to be nice and we look after our own at Turton FC.
“We have been around for 150 years and are one of the oldest clubs in the world. You do not end up being around for that long without developing good ethics and we wanted to try and cheer him up.
“Oscar was genuinely surprised and it was great to see the look on his face. The other lads were so happy for him too.”
Oscar’s dad Ian expressed his gratitude to the club.
He said: “Oscar was absolutely delighted to receive the wonderful bike from the club. He was completely in shock and so excited at the same time.
“I cannot thank the Turton Tigers Football Club enough for this amazing gift.
“Pete, Mark and Sam do an absolutely fabulous job with the kids and the kids really enjoy both the training and the Saturday matches. it is one of the best best football clubs in Bolton.”
