WELCOME to Pub of the Week. Each week we showcase a local and ask the owners a series of questions. If you’d like to feature as pub of the week or nominate your local pub, then email simone.okane@newsquest.co.uk.
Pub: Thomas Egerton, 272 Blackburn Road, Egerton
Landlord name: Josh Lee
How long have you been there? I have been here since 2006 and acquired the company last year.
Give us some history of the pub: The pub used to be called The Globe, we took over in 2006 and it was refurbished. Before that it used to be a farmhouse. I know that Thomas Egerton was a landowner and his family had dealings in Egerton.
Is there a beer garden? Yes we have a large beer garden as well as marquee for shelter.
Most popular drink served: Moorhouses White Witch beer. We sell a lot of Sauvignon blanc as well. Soon to start cocktails, too.
Do you serve food? Yes we serve delicious home cooked food.
How many staff do you have? Twenty altogether.
Do you have an entertainment line-up? When open under normal regulations, we have live music on a Friday evening and we have Sky Sport and BT Sport.
Have you faced any challenges within the industry? Covid has been hard work balancing the business and not disturbing our neighbours.
The best thing about running a pub is... The people - you have to be a people person.
The worst thing about running a pub is... Nothing - no negatives in what I do.
The pub is currently closed due to the local coronavirus restrictions. Online food orders only.
