Plans have been lodged to build 140 homes on a former industrial site in Little Lever.
The housing estate is earmarked for the former Tarmac Building Materials Ltd plant on Stopes Road.
Applicant the Harworth Group put forward plans for outline planning permission with Bolton Council.
The application seeks permission to demolish existing structures on the site and make it ready for housing construction.
The development would consist of 140 homes, 21 of which would be classed as affordable housing.
The 6.3 hectare site was formerly used by Tarmac for concrete block manufacture and aggregate storage.
The proposals would provide parking for up to 280 vehicles.
A flood risk assessment contained within the application states that the site is not at risk and the development would not increase the likelihood of flooding elsewhere.
Documents contained in the proposals include a plan to consult neighbouring residents on Stopes Road, Masefield Road and Bexhill Close and Masefield Primary School.
Diagrams attached to the application show access to the estate will be from Stopes Road and plans show the intention to create a ‘village green’ area.
Planning authorities will consider the proposals at a later date to be decided.
