THE headteacher of Turton School has spoken of her pride in her pupils for showing “resilience, patience and adaptability” during this unprecedented and ‘frustrating’ time.
Sam Gorse said on result’s day: “Today our GCSE students receive their results. Amidst the confusion and frustrations of this sorry process, the light that shines through the cracks reflects the pride that I have in all of our GCSE students today.
“Parents and teachers can’t fail to be impressed by how they have weathered this storm, showing resilience, patience and adaptability.”
She added: I am thankful that GCSE students have not been subjected to the distressing down-grading that A-level students had to endure last week, albeit temporarily.
“But more than that, more than any GCSE grading, Turton students have shown themselves to be adaptive, flexible, creative, resilient, true, honest and committed.
“They have learned, sooner than most, that life is about improvising and adapting.
“That home study is good for you and they’ve learned the art of structuring their own time and managing their work.”
Ms Gorse concluded: “These times shine a light in a different place and the spotlight is definitely on Turton’s GCSE cohort, who, as well as receiving well deserved, excellent GCSE grades, present themselves as real assets to society, college, university, and employment in the future.”
