LOCAL coronavirus restrictions placed on areas of the North West last Thursday could be changed tomorrow after their first weekly review.
Ministers had said the rules – which ban people from different households meeting in a private home or garden following a spike in coronavirus cases – would apply from midnight on July 31.
A review of the current rules, which affect Greater Manchester, parts of East Lancashire and West Yorkshire, and Leicester, was set to take place today, with the results set to be made public tomorrow.
If officials decide on any changes to the restrictions, an announcement should be made tomorrow morning, with local leaders alerted to any changes first.
The Department for Health and Social Care is working with Public Health England, the Joint Biosecurity Centre, NHS Test and Trace and the relevant local authorities.
Laws enforcing the restrictions came into effective at midnight on Wednesday.
Anyone found flouting the rules could be fined £100 up to a maximum of £3,200 for repeat offences.
Those who have formed a support bubble and are "linked" households, people sharing childcare duties, and people going to work are all exempt from the new rules.
The laws also don't apply to people attending a birth at the mother's request, those visiting a dying loved one, or anyone moving house.
