Harry Prunnell fills up Roy Lever's model Concorde in 1974
GARAGE owner Harry Prunnell got a real surprise when Concorde pulled on to his petrol station forecourt for a fill-up.
The scale model of the famous supersonic plane had been built by members of the Tyldesley Model Flying Club and chairman Roy Lever took it to Harry’s Mosley Common garage in 1974.
The model - which cost over £1,000 to make - was over 16 feet long, with a wingspan of eight feet and was powered by three 10cc engines.
The model was to make its flying debut at a demonstration given by the club at a steam traction rally at Cleworth Hall in Tyldesley
