A WOMAN who braved the shave to raise money in memory of two close friends has nearly doubled the money she wanted to raise.
Niki Ashton is just a few hundreds pounds away from reaching £4,000 to donate to The Christie Hospital.
"I am just blown away and humbled by how much has been raised," said Niki, who lives in Great Lever, "I am blessed to have so many who care."
Niki had her locks cut off on Saturday, which was streamed live on Facebook.
She said: "I am warming to the new look, so many people have sent messages say that it suits me.
"But this was not about me, this was about raising money and awareness of The Christie Hospital."
The money raised is in memory of her good friends Tina Hesketh and Aileen Daly who died from cancer.
"I was going to close the fundraising page on Saturday but am keeping it open a little longer," said Niki.
