The winner of Bolton's pub of the season has been announced, with a young micro-brewery coming out on top.
Northern Monkey, in Nelson Square, has been awarded the accolade by the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA).
The Nelson Square Ale House was established in 2016 by Ryan Bailey and Liam Convey, starting with home-brewing to setting up Northern Monkey.
CAMRA awards a pub of the season for Winter, Spring, Summer, and Autumn, as well as an overall pub of the year — which was won by The Brewery Bar in 2019.
Ryan Baily, joint owner of Northern Monkey, commented on the award saying: "We love that the work we have put in to provide a friendly atmosphere, with care and attention paid to the beers we serve, has been recognised by Bolton CAMRA and is a recognition that we're doing a good job.
"We have a loyal following and would like to think all those that support an independent local business day in day out."
The pub was also featured at the 'Bolton Means Business 2020' event on February 25 as an example of a successful local businesses, with Mr Bailey saying there: "The future for Bolton is very bright and we are very proud to be a part of that. I am very proud to be from Bolton.”
