JUSSI Jaaskelainen flies to Helsinki today on a mission to help Finland qualify for the European Championships, confident that all will soon be well at the Reebok.

Wanderers are still in the Premiership relegation zone but the mighty Finn, who marked 10 years' service with a clean sheet in yesterday's bore draw with Middlesbrough, is convinced they won't be there for long.

The 32-year-old shot-stopper has believed from the start that Gary Megson has what it takes to inspire a revival that will lift them clear of the bottom three.

"First impressions are very important to me, especially when a new manager comes in," Jaaskelainen said. "I've been feeling very, very positive and very good about everything since the first meeting we had.

"I've been very impressed with the way he talks to us and with what he's doing."

Jaaskelainen also believes Wanderers deserve credit for putting in a spirited display just three days after their heroic performance to draw 2-2 at Bayern Munich.

He was rested for the UEFA Cup game, in which his understudy Ali Al-Habsi excelled, but was not surprised that the team as a whole struggled to find their best form against Boro.

"We battled well but it's always difficult when you come back after a UEFA Cup game," he said.

"We still worked very, very hard to battle on and we were a bit unlucky that the ball didn't fall better for us.

"But, if you look at our performance compared to Middlesbrough's, we were on top of them.

"I'm quite happy with performances. We are much more organised now. That's what the manager wants and you can see that it's working.

"I can hardly remember the last time we had a clean sheet. But we have to start winning games, we have to be a little bit more ruthless to get the goals."
