WE all know how long it takes to cover our Christmas trees with baubles and tinsel ready for the big day.
But for many residents, there's always one member of the family determined to undo all your hard work.
Whether it's sending baubles flying across the room or even toppling the whole tree over, these pet owners seem to face a running battle keeping their tree safe from their pets' claws but they wouldn't have it any other way.

Advice from the RSPCA is to only allow pets around the tree when they can be supervised as:
- Hanging edible decorations, like chocolate, are poisonous to dogs and can cause severe damage to their health.
- Cats and dogs might be tempted to chew or play with hanging tree decorations which could be dangerous to them
Tips for keeping cats away from your tree
- Pets at Home suggest avoiding decorating lower branches that cats can easily reach with their paws.
- Cats hate the smell of oranges so orange peel or a citrus spray around the tree should stop them from causing any mischief.
- Cats also dislike the sensation of tinfoil on their claws so wrapping it around the trunk may help.
- Readers have also suggested putting your tree out for a few days before you decorate it gives your cat time to explore and get bored of it before you add baubles and tinsel
