A POST office is set to 'temporarily close' as bosses consider plans for its future.
Breightmet Post Office, in Bury Road, will shut its doors on June 15, the latest in a series of post office closures through the borough.
Speaking to The Bolton News, a spokesman for the Post Office moved to reassure the public that the organisation would aim to safeguard services offered by the current store.
They said: “Breightmet Post Office is due to close temporarily on June 15 2019 and we are currently exploring the various options available to us which will enable us to maintain a Post Office service after this date.
"We would like to reassure customers that we are committed to maintaining vital Post Office services for the local community – including banking services like cash withdrawals from their usual high street bank account, bill payments, and of course a wide range of postal services.”
Late last year, Bolton's historic town centre post office, in Deansgate, closed its doors after more than 100 years of service.
The move has been made because the current branch was deemed unsustainable for the future and the majority of post offices are run as franchises basis alongside shops.
Earlier this week, the National Federation of SubPostmasters (NFSP) called on government ministers to reconsider plans to end subsidies for the Post Office in 2021.
The group says the plans would cause further closures and have a "catastrophic" impact on communities.
