A TOTAL of 20 seats were up for grabs at this year’s elections.
Labour and Conservative each won six, the Lib Dems won three and UKIP won one. Farnworth and Kearsley First (FKF) and Horwich and Blackrod First Independents (HBFI) each won two seats.
Altogether, Labour had seven losses and made no gains. The Conservatives made two gains, in Hulton and Breightmet, but lost Westhoughton North and Chew Moor.
The Lib Dems gained three seats, although one was from a former group member who stood down at these elections.
Farnworth and Kearsley First won two seats, in Farnworth and Kearsley, taking their total to five councillors.
Horwich and Blackrod First Independents also won two seats, in Horwich and Blackrod and Horwich North East, at their first council elections.
UKIP leader Sean Hornby successfully defended his seat in Little Lever and Darcy Lever keeping his group’s total at three.
At the end of the night, the results were: Labour 23, Conservatives 20, Liberal Democrats 6, Farnworth and Kearsley First 5, UKIP 3, Horwich and Blackrod First Independents 2 and Independents 1.
The Bolton News understands that Debbie Newall has rejoined the Labour Party taking the group’s total to 24.
