A NEW musical adaptation of David Walliams' best-selling book Mr Stink is coming to Bolton, it has been revealed.

The Albert Halls is one of just 10 theatres chosen to stage the show, following a hugely successful run in London and in which renowned journalist and broadcaster Jeremy Vine makes his professional acting debut.

Mr Stink is the second original, touching and hilarious novel from the popular comedy actor and author and says he is delighted the show will reach new audiences this summer.

Sam Bradshaw Productions has teamed up with Chickenshed to bring the book to the stage in a musical.

Walliams said: "I love Chickenshed. They are, without doubt, one of the best theatre companies in the world. I am so proud to be associated with them and the inspirational work they do."

The show tells the story of kind, but lonely 12-years-old Chloe who invites the homeless Mr Stink and his dog, Duchess, to leave behind the wooden bench where they have taken up residence and secretley move into her family's shed. But matters become more complicated when Chloe’s mother – who has unfulfilled political ambitions – tries to take credit for Chloe’s generosity.

The tour follows a successful six week run in London and with producers realising the impact Walliams' writing can have on young audiences across the UK.

Sam Bradshaw Productions said they were "delighted to announce that renowned British presenter, broadcaster and journalist Jeremy Vine, will be making his professional acting debut with a cameo performance.

Producer Sam Bradshaw said: ''It is an honour to be working with David Walliams and Chickenshed to bring 'Mr Stink' to the good people of Bolton. The audiences

can expect lots of fun and laughter, brilliant songs and full dance routines, larger than life characters and a very stinky leading man, and I mean, very stinky!

"This will be the hottest ticket this summer.''

The musical will be open at the Albert Halls in Bolton this summer, with dates to be announced and tickets to go on sale soon.
