A TAKEOVER bid at Bolton Wanderers could be just days away from being completed, The Bolton News understands.
A UK-based consortium has agreed in principle a deal to buy the club from owner Ken Anderson.
Meetings were held last week in London and it is hoped the deal will be completed soon, subject to EFL approval.
Anderson has been actively looking to sell the club for several months and has come under intense pressure to move on from Bolton fans, who have protested at the stadium for the last two home matches.
Anderson took over the club with Dean Holdsworth in March 2016, later buying out his business partner’s shares to become sole owner.
But financial difficulties have never been far away throughout his near-three-year tenure at the University of Bolton Stadium.
In January, Anderson admitted: “For my part, I am the first to admit that the club needs someone with greater financial resources than l have to take the club forward and l can assure everyone l am doing my utmost to achieve this.”
