THE Winter Hill fires from last summer will be explored at an event in an Atherton pub on Tuesday, January 29.
Senior firefighters Alan Topping and Ady Taylor and Paul Brain of Bolton Mountain Rescue will be at the Atherton Arms on Tyldesley Road from 7pm to talk about the devastating moorland blazes.
They will discuss how the fire, which covered 18sq km site and took 41 days to extinguish, started, how teams tackled the emergency and its aftermath.
Residents also dropped off hoards of liquids, foodstuffs and other emergency items for firemen battling the flames.
Tickets are priced at £5 with all proceeds split between the Fireman’s Charity and Bolton Mountain Rescue.
