QUEEN of baking Mary Berry could be about to lose her crown!
These beautiful Christmas cakes were created by young bakers at Bolton School girls' division in a Great British Bake-Off inspired festive competition.
Pupils across the school worked on their cakes at home and ins a special Christmas cake club before the end of term.
Food Technology Teacher Natalie James said: "The cakes on display this year were outstanding, they just keep getting better and better each year.
"This year we decided to award two girls as winners. The first was for the cake made by Annabelle Gibbs in Year 11, who won the competition last year. The judges were blown away with how fabulous this cake looked and the attention to detail — a real showstopper! This must have taken Annabelle hours to complete. It was faultless, well done!
"The second winner was Kiersten Keogh in Year 13.
"The judges loved the fun nature of this cake and thought that has obviously gone into this with the light up windows, this was a brilliant idea. Well done Kirsten."
Annabelle’s, cake weighed in at an incredible two stone, and she said: "It was time consuming; the making of the cake took me about a week or so but the icing was done over a period of three weeks. I think my family will enjoy it over the Christmas period.”
Kiersten said: "My creation was a take on a winter wedding cake photo that I saw except I added in fairy lights to illuminate the scene."
Both girls were awarded a £20 Amazon voucher. Shriya Pindoria in Year Nine was also commended for her egg free Christmas cake.
