A COUPLE were left outraged when their little girl's coat, which had been missing for months was sold for £2 at a school fair.
Five-year-old Tilly Jones went to school with her black, George coat but it went missing before the summer holidays.
Despite repeated requests at the school office by mum Danielle Dalton and step-dad Christopher Dalton about the coat it was never returned to them.
Mrs Dalton said she was "just angry" about the situation and the way the school had handled it.
Last week the family saw another girl leave the school's Christmas fair, on December 7, wearing the coat.
Mr Dalton said: "Anything that's in lost and found they just sold it, but we have been trying to find it for months.
"She went two months before we could afford another coat."
Mrs Dalton said they had been into the school multiple times to ask if the coat had been found.
She added that at one point she was told by staff at the school in Castle Hill Street that "they don't have a lost and found".
The family bought the coat for £22 from Asda and it went missing after being hung in the school cloakroom.
Mr Dalton said: "We don't know if someone picked it up and then realised and has given it to the office."
Since Mr and Mrs Dalton spoke to The Bolton News the matter has been "resolved" say the school.
The Bolton News understands the coat was returned to Tilly and the new owners were reimbursed for their purchase.
A school spokesman said: "This is an internal matter that has been resolved."
