THIS week’s mystery photograph has all the hallmarks of a Dickensian street scene that is only missing the hustle and bustle of people.
The only clue is that it is not a million miles from Bolton town centre and captures the type of housing which proliferated in industrial towns such as Bolton.
Last week’s rural idyll with an industrial backdrop was spotted by Norman Shard who correctly identified the photograph as being Roper’s Barn in Valletts Lane looking towards Chorley Old Road.
The photograph was taken in 1949.
