ON Thursday, June 28, a fire was reported near to the television mast on Winter Hill.
It broke out four days after the devastating moorland fire on Saddleworth.
The fire service received reports just after 3.30pm land near the mast was on fire.
Fifty firefighters from Greater Manchester and were Lancashire were sent.
A major incident was declared by the weekend, when two fires on the moorland converged to create a massive blaze.
More than 100 firefighters from across the country tackled the fire.
The United Utilities helicopter was scrambled to pour hundreds of gallons of water on the fire.
In mid-August footpaths were reopened to the areas around Winter Hill and Rivington Pike following the fire as Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service prepared to close the incident.
Firefighters were officially stood down after 41-days of tackling the inferno. More than 4,000 acres of moorland were affected by the blaze.
A huge thank you concert was held to say thank you to all of the heroes of Winter Hill.
Officials at Rivington Terraced Gardens, which was saved from the horrific moorlands fire because of the work of the firefighters, staged the thank you gig.
The emergency services were invited to attend for free and everyone will be able to bring a plus one.
All proceeds went to charity.
