MUSICAL maestros can take advantage of a new practice space in The Market Place.

Trust Music has relocated from its former home with Victoria Hall to the first floor of the shopping centre near Debenhams.

Musicians of types and skills can come along to sessions throughout the week led by a tutor from Bolton Music Service.

Patricia Tremayne, a trustee of the Trust Music, said: “We offer a mixture of sessions for beginners and intermediates. You can come along and join in whatever level you are.”

The new shop opened for the first time yesterday and has music sessions throughout the week.

These include Ladies Acapella on Thursday, 10am to 11.30am and Ukes Like Us on Friday, 10.30am to noon. Both of these welcome walk-ins.

Other sessions like Music for Babies and Magic Moments for dementia patients and their carers can be booked.

Music for Babies is for under threes and their parents or grandparents.

Magic Moments is not just for people living with dementia to take part in Ms Tremayne explained. She said: “This is a place where people can go and be a couple rather than be a carer for someone.

“Also you usually find that if someone can’t talk they can still sing. When you play familiar music they will sing along.”

Sessions cost £5 and musicians should bring their own instruments, although they do provide keyboards.

The trustees hope the shop will become a one stop shop for all things music around Bolton and will help people find instruments, tuition or concerts in the local area.

Trust Music’s new home also has a book exchange where as well as being able to buy the books, voracious readers can receive a book in exchange for donating 10.

The official launch takes place on Saturday, December 1, when the Mayor of Bolton will cut the ribbon.

Trust Music chose to move to new premises to take advantage of the extra space provided in The Market Place and the extra opening hours.
