BOLTON’S premier nightspot was always The Palais in Bridge Street.
Today though this iconic building is no more but the memories live on for so many of our readers.
It reinvented itself on so many occasions and in this picture we see a shot of the building in 1986 when it was known as Cinderellas Rockerfellas.
This was a time of high octave and high energy music with revellers dancing away into the early hours.
While alcohol was on the menu the main focus of those packing into the iconic former ballroom was, most certainly, dance.
In its Palais days the building was literally rocking as couples jived their way across the well sprung dance floor.
Prior to that a more sedate waltz would introduce couples to each other many of whom ended up walking down the aisle and spending many happy decades together.
Today there are far few such dancing venues for couples to meet in.
The focus has changed and couples are more likely to meet on line having exchanged messages before meeting up or in a pub rather than a traditional club.
When Cinderellas Rockerfellas as top of the Bolton town centre clubs there were various other nightspots for it to compete with.
Today it is long gone!
