BOLTON Wanderers have been served with a winding-up petition after missing a payment to HMRC.
A petition was filed on September 27 but Ken Anderson claimed at the weekend that the debt would be paid before the matter went to court.
Wanderers have dealt with four separate winding-up petitions from HMRC in the last 14 months.
A winding-up petition was also filed on September 11 by Front Row Marketing, a Philadelphia-based sports and entertainments firm who were used to expand the club’s “branding, sales and marketing footprint” in an agreement with previous ownership.
“Front Row were here long before I was here and added invoices for the naming rights of the Macron, claiming various monies,” he said. “They claimed to have brought money to the club but couldn’t say how much they actually brought. It seems quite strange.
“I have probably spent two-and-a-half years fighting that and they felt the need to yield the big stick of a winding-up order. I can say now we have settled, and for less than they wanted.”
