A BOLTON shopping centre tasted double success at the Bolton Business Awards after winning the Customer Excellence Award.
The Market Place had already been named Retailer of the Year when overjoyed staff returned to the stage again to collect their second award of the evening.
After accepting the award, which was sponsored by Bristol Street Motors, Jill Davidson, the centre's guest service manager, said it was a reflection of the dedicated contribution made by the centre's staff.
She added: "All of our team are really good people and they have got passion and pride in the job that they do.
“It is all about customer service really. That is what all of our staff strive for, to be the best and win all of these awards.
“Tonight has been really good fun and this is a really good award for us to win."
The Market Place has undergone a £23 million refurbishment since it was purchased by Inception Holdings Sarl in November 2013.
The centre was redeveloped by Moorgarth Group with the support of the council and work has included a new dining destination in The Vaults and a nine-screen cinema.
Over the last four years, footfall has increased at the centre by 45 per cent, from 3.8 million to 6.5 million, and 252 new jobs have been created.
The well-known town centre retail venue now has 39 staff, who are led by centre manager Nikki Wilson-Cook.
Team members and store staff at the shopping centre are empowered to deliver the centre’s vision with personal and centre-wide achievement recognised and rewarded.
This is intended to promote a sense of pride and self-worth where every team member feels valued, appreciated and inspired to deliver the highest level of customer service.
Market Place partners with the Westgrove Group in the training and development of customer service and security staff at the centre.
The centre has achieved five-star ratings on Facebook, with an overall score of four-stars, demonstrating an overall satisfaction with the venue.
Earlier this year, Market Place also won the overall Site of the Year Award for delivering outstanding service at the Westgrove Group Annual Reward and Recognition Awards’ ceremony.
