YOUNG people are at the heart of the organisation which won Not for Profit Organisation of the Year.
Bolton Young Persons Housing Scheme was recognised for the work it does, with members of the charity hoping the award will raise its profile.
Maura Jackson said: "I'm just elated, it really helps raise the profile of the work we are trying to do which then perpetuates into people wanting to know more about us people being able to refer to us more easily and eventually we end up tackling more homelessness so it's total win win.
"In terms of a charity and the pressures charities are under to be innovative and get money and sustain, this is extremely rewarding."
She added: "There are nearly 60 of us in the team and they work their socks off and we couldn't do any of this without them."
Bolton Young Persons Housing Scheme was established in 1992 to offer support, accommodation and education to young people who are homeless.
The charity ensures those leaving care, those who are neglected, rejected, isolated, vulnerable and at risk have access to safe and secure housing.
Across seven projects, the scheme accommodates 100 young people aged 16-25 at any one time and supports around 400 a year in Bolton.
Highly Commended in this category was Birtenshaw.
Birtenshaw provides care and education services for children and adults with special educational needs and disability. The organisation's aim is to help those they care and educate to lead "fulfilling lives as independently as possible".
It was founded in 1956 as a special school for children with cerebral palsy and now supports people of various ages and with various conditions, including autism, significant physical impairment and/or complex health needs.
