THE idea of swapping traditional shortcrust pastry in our beloved pasties with filo or rough puff pastry is enough to make the average Boltonian choke on their pint.
NHS bosses want to replace the traditional Cornish Pasty with a lower fat casing to provide healthier alternatives. If they do that to the Cornish version, can Bolton’s famous pasties be far behind?
Pasties may not be perceived as the healthiest fare in the world but they offer a simple, complete nutritious meal. The pasty is part of our local heritage. And a little of what you fancy definitely does you good.
