A MAN has been arrested by police investigating the murder of a 43-year-old.
Police were called to a flat in Peterhead Close, Halliwell, shortly after midnight after the, who has not yet been named, was stabbed in the chest.
He was rushed to the Royal Bolton Hospital but later died.
It is understood the man was attacked following a dispute with a neighbour.
A woodland area and two blocks of flats have been cordoned off, while forensic examination takes place.
Annette Ross has lived on the street for 19 years, she said: "I heard a young girl screaming, and I now know that there has been a stabbing because I heard it on the news. "Something needs to be done about these flats we are always having trouble with them.
"It sounded like someone was fighting last night."
Police have sealed off the flat and launched an investigation.
A 25-year-old man from Halliwell has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody for questioning.
