YOUNG artists with designs on success have been chosen as finalists in a prestigious competition.

Pieces by Bolton School girls Zainab Emrite in Year 11 and Antonia Jameson Year 12 have been placed in the final ten of the national YPO Art Competition secondary category.

Zainab submitted a watercolour featuring birds and Antonia's work was a portrait.

More than 300 pieces of artwork by children of all ages were submitted.

A school spokesman said: "It is a fantastic achievement for the school to have not one but two entries in the final ten."

YPO staff members will now vote for the winners from each category.

Category winners will receive £100 in YPO vouchers for their school, and an overall winner will receive £250 of YPO vouchers for their school and a hamper of art supplies from the company.
