A ROAD blighted by potholes is due to be resurfaced next week following complaints from the community.
Makinson Avenue in Horwich will be resurfaced from its junction with Ainsworth Avenue to its junction with Gloucester Avenue.
Work will begin on Monday and councillors have said it should take about a week to complete.
The announcement comes after Cllr Joyce Kellett received complaints from residents about the state of the road, which is a bus route.
According to her, the surface was continually breaking up with large potholes continually appearing and being patched up.
The Labour representative said: "I am very pleased that this section of Makinson Avenue will be completely resurfaced as it was very bad indeed.
"It is a much-used section of road into the Brazley estate and I am sure that local residents will appreciate the difference once the work is completed."
Recently the three ward councillors decided to spend some of their area forum money, £4,400 to help the parking situation in Makinson Avenue.
Along with Bolton At Home, they paid for a parking area to be constructed at the bottom end of the road so that vehicles were not being left on the grass.
The path between Ainsworth Avenue and the Brazley Centre has also recently been tarmacked and a drainage system was recently installed. A lighting column was also erected to light up the path, making it safer for pedestrians to use.
Makinson Avenue is the latest in a number of roads in the Horwich area that have been resurfaced following residents' complaints.
Matchmoor Lane was closed for a week for resurfacing and there was also work carried out to fix Crown Lane.
The biggest project was the £500,000 project to resurface Chorley Old Road between Horwich Cemetery and Wallsuches.
The council also revealed earlier this year that it was facing a £108million shortfall in funding to bring the borough's roads up to a "good standard".
A spokesman from the authority said it was likely to to be more than that following the snowy and cold weather at the start of 2018.
