STAFF at a Hunger Hill restaurant have risen to the challenge baking 2,000 cupcakes to help defeat dementia.
Jane Kelly and Zoe Bithell who work at the Tavern Fayre have raised over £5,800 for the Alzheimer's Society with their colleagues and customers, smashing their fundraising target.
Over ten weeks the pair have hosted a coffee morning as well as numerous cake sales and hamper raffles.
Ms Kelly said: “I have decided to do this for Alzheimer’s Society because many of our lives are touched by this disease.
“I feel honoured to work with such fantastic people, who along with the generous businesses, have helped us to raise funds which will help support people living with dementia now and fund research to one day find a cure for dementia.”
The pair have now set their sights on on a new target of £6,000 before they hang their aprons up and are asking for donations to help get them there.
Alzheimer's Society community fundraiser, Steph Potts, said: “It’s wonderful that all at Tavern Fayre are getting involved by giving their time to support Alzheimer’s Society. Dementia devastates lives, but dementia won’t win. Thank you for uniting with us against dementia.”
